Monday, 12th Week in Ordinary Time

Green.

2 Kgs 17:5 -8, 13 -15a, 18 / Mt 7:1 – 5

Gospel Gospel: Mt 7:1- 5

Jesus said, "Do not judge and you will not be judged. In the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and the measure you use for others will be used for you. Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye and not see the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother: 'Come, let me take the speck from your eye,' as long as that plank is in your own? Hypocrite, take first the plank out of your own eye, then you will see clear enough to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

Reflection

There is a common expression which goes something like this:  "Whenever you point an accusing finger at another person, the other four fingers are pointing back at you!"

We make hasty conclusions by judging others based on our limited knowledge. That was why Jesus warns us about undermining other people's dignity.  We put "brands" on people based on the way we judge them.  We may imagine that we are superior to others because we live in the myths that we had created for ourselves.

The false sense of superiority has tricked us into behaving the way we treat other people, sometimes putting them down, dehumanizing or belittling their dignity.  Even verbal abuse is a form of mistreating people based on unsound judgment.  Instead of putting people down, wouldn't it be better to lift up those who are weak?  Are we taking a closer look at our own selves?  Do we see our own flaws?  How well do we know ourselves, our behavior and character?  Are we denying the reality about what needs to be healed in us?

Let us pray to the Lord to help us see through our SELF and heal us.  "Lord, open our eyes that we may see things the way you would want us to see them."

WE PRAY FOR MTQ DAILY PRAYER DIARY INTENTIONS:

BIRTHDAY

     Melody Yap-Dy

Finally, we pray for one another, for those who have asked our prayers and for those who need our prayers the most.

Have a good day!
